whimsy + dance set the vibe for this NYC Bat Mitzvah girl
March 4, 2016 | in the studio with loretta, interior alchemy, on the road..., pretty this + that, venue this way

Hello There Party Goers: We are so very excited to share with you some recent festive happenings.....come along to the studio as we share Ellie's NYC Bat Mitzvah story.

The beginning piece of creating a story is to define a center theme to ground the artistic direction and energy of the party.

Fashion illustrator Moomooi captures Ellie's spirit with FANTASTICAL  perfection.  A clever twist on Ellie' s passion for dance + love of sweets guides the inspiration for the whimsical beauty.

WE WORK space Bryant Park Venue Event

The event space at We Work is wonderfully designed in an old world interior with high detailed ceiling fused with modern elements. The challenge can be adding a personal layer to the space that reflects the party theme while maintaining the integrity of venue.

We created a secret Pinterest mood board. This allowed us to pin potential concepts in color and design. Through the process of revisions and edits a story begins to emerge.

It was Ellie who chose the rich jewel tone dress and a saturated blue for her logo.

Taking these colors we played into the existing venue color direction and there we had our palette.

Once we nailed down our color palette, we began to play with the elements from our Pinterest board.

We pinned  FAIRY LIGHTS, BRANCHES, CONFETTI, CANDLES, ROCK CANDY.

A visit to The Renegade Craft Fair sparked the vision. As hitting up the dsigners. Make NYC was showing this fabulous confetti garland. It felt so whimsical and special, a perfect compliment to the illustration and the colors tied together perfectly with the space.  I was in love with the garland. Immediately back at the studio, we started playing with the end use.

We consulted with the flower shop Petal, shared our vision and collaborated on translating the concept for day off event space.

In an organic manner, we carried the winter wonderland mood of Bryant Park into the party space.

The design sensibility maintains a cohesive story while it captures the whimsical side of Ellie.

We carried the design through to the details. Guests peeked out of gold mylar letter balloons at the photo booth and tossed about DIY confetti balloons on the dance floor.

In the midst of New York City's deep freeze, January 2016, we create warmth LIKE MAGIC.

I loved telling Ellie's story.
Til next time, sparkle and shine, Loretta x

Social events - wrap up with a GIFT BAR
December 23, 2015 | in the studio with loretta, pretty this + that, rock paper scissors

Cheers! It's the most WONDERFUL time of the year. As we mix + mingle at social events and intimate kickbacks to share good times with friends & family.

Here at the studio, we had  a rather fantastic time discovering pretty little things to wrap up the season.

We hit up The Renegade Craft Fair and Artists and Fleas where we were re-inspired to wrap up the hostess gift + party swag with a new attitude.

At The Renegade Craft Fair.

We fell in love with the design sensibility of make shop nyc. Little goodies hand crafted right out of Brooklyn. We scooped up the spool wrapped confetti garland.

Back at the studio, we couldn't wait to play with the confetti garland. What do we think about mixing it up with natural cotton and pops of confetti garland?? I think I kinda really like it:)

Leif Shop always delights as we gathered up wish-ful ornaments of glittery shine.

Good ole' flea market finds make for the most charming details. These mini round balls in pastel shades of Holiday reminiscent of days gone by.....Did you know that during the 1940's Christmas ornaments were traditionally designed in pastel??

Kraft paper leaves us to our imagination as we hand stamped dreamy pink snowflakes.

At Artists and Fleas we got very happy over these adorable mini christmas tree decorations. I just can NOT take the itty bitty tree seated on the spool of thread. Captures such a sweet vignette.

Streets of NYC during the Holiday Season are filled with festive inspiration. On the corner of Mulberry, The Market NYC had us falling hard for The Fairy Lights Factory.

These cotton balls of color and flair are a HAPPY way to light up any PARTY.  We plan on bringing a pop of color to our lighting design in 2016!

For those who love to wrap up their social events with a fresh feel. Think about topping off your gift with dried lavender tied in twine. I do love the calling card feel of the oak hangtags, hand stamped with a personal message. Make your way over to the Seaport, NYC and swing by Emily Thompson Flower Shop for hand made pine tree ornaments and your very own field guide to the high line!!

To all of us shopping, wrapping, sipping, baking, mingling and laughing.

ENJOY GOOD CHEER,

See you at the party, Loretta xo
